Meet Our Project Manager, Havard Nicolaysen

>Name, job title and length of time working at Pipetech
Håvard Nicolaysen, Project Manager, joining the team in 2016.

> Please provide a brief description of your career journey with the company so far?
I started my career at Pipetech as an offshore operator where I gained hands on experience in operational excellence, equipment maintenance and delivering high-quality work in challenging offshore environments. I then progressed to become Supervisor where I was able to lead my own team and plan complex operational processes, before becoming Project Manager in 2024.

> Following Pipetech’s recent growth and acquisition of Denholm Group, what excites you most about the companies’ future?
I am personally looking forward to working within a growing team, sharing our expertise while learning from others, and using that to develop in new markets together. With the new investments in the company and its assets, we are already underway with enhancing our services for clients.

Within the Group, there is a huge amount of expertise across a variety of services. It’s all very exciting knowing we have a team of people working together under one shared vision, and that we have the resources to achieve our mutual aims.

> In your opinion, what separates Pipetech from its competitors?
I believe Pipetech’s experience and technical expertise set us apart from our competitors.

With almost 26 years in the industry, we have established ourselves as specialist in internal pipe cleaning using pure water. Our team have successfully delivered complex projects in challenging conditions both on and offshore giving us the confidence to tackle any future project.

> As a Project Manager, what has been your most challenging project to date and how did you lead your team through these challenges?
During 2025, Norway’s offshore sector underwent a large, planned shutdown of multiple assets. Our team worked with numerous clients to complete an extensive cleaning work scope using our Aqua Milling Technology. One of the key challenges to this was coordinating the availability of plant, equipment and personnel. Effective planning was crucial for the organisation of critical resources across simultaneous projects whilst ensuring equipment was maintained, mobilised and available at the right location at the right time. Managing offshore logistics, certification requirements and evolving client schedules, added an extra pressure to each project. As a team, we prioritised clear communication with clients, suppliers, and each other to ensure we delivered our Aqua Milling services safely, efficiently and within required timeframes.

> What do you enjoy most about being a Project Manager and how has your experience helped you in this role?
My experience in different operative roles, both on and offshore, has given me unique insights into our processes, the challenges we face and the opportunities for continuous improvement. Now, as Project Manager, I enjoy being part of every stage of the process, from the early planning phases, through execution, to delivery of final reports. My comprehensive understanding of each stage of our operational processes has given me with the knowledge and experience to lead my team to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

> What new opportunities are arising in Norway and how do you plan for Pipetech to tap into them?
There are a lot of exciting new opportunities developing in Norway which Pipetech are very well positioned for. Partnering with other Denholm Energy Services companies has allowed us to expand our services and tap into new markets, and coupled with our new DSR, we are able to take on more challenging projects across the industry.

> What is the best piece of professional advice you have been given that you’d pass on to your colleagues?
I was always told never to make decisions on impulse. I like to think through different outcomes to arrive at the best solution and encourage my team to do the same. I always make sure my team know they can rely on me for support, whether challenging projects, work or decisions. Anything can all be handled as a team, that’s where I believe our best work comes from!
